Wouldn’t mind a weekend here. Or a year.

What are some of your favorite movies about traveling and adventure? I am constantly searching for movies that have the same essence as your pictures :>

First, let me apologize for leaving this message (and many other messages) hanging for so long.  I’d foregone internet at my apartment for a few months, and was operating my tumblr from my phone — where I am not very good at checking messages!

Second, bear with me.  I don’t have the most sophisticated taste in movies, but there are a number that spark that travel bug in me and those are the ones I’d like to share.

To list a few of the movies I feel best reflect my sense of adventure:

  • The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
  • 180 Degrees South
  • Wild (the one they are making with Reese Witherspoon, based on the book — okay, I haven’t actually seen this yet, but I will be at the theater the day it comes out, and that’s saying a lot because I don’t spend a lot of time at the movies)
  • Made In Iceland (not a full length movie, but just as good)
  • And pretty much anything from this guy (he was the inspiration for a few of my own attempts at filming…the first two shaky videos in the link are mine, and there’s also this one from Peru, because I’m shameless) ;)

I hope that list isn’t too much of a repeat for you, but if it is then maybe it inspired you to re-watched a few!

Where we spent last weekend. No big deal.

Our local tip for visiting Oregon’s Painted Hills? Enjoy the red rocks at John Day Fossil Beds, but don’t stop there! Keep driving to find crazy cool mint rocks like these.

Be prepared to scale a rock wall or wade threw deep-ish, ice cold water to make it to the waterfall at the end of Oneonta Gorge :)
